British Golf Masters - Betting Preview
23rd September, 2008
The Ryder Cup is over and the European players have returned home defeated. They were out played by the Americans and Nick Faldo's decision to play his two best players, Westwood and and Harrington in the last few singles games, proved to be the wrong one.
By the time those two had teed off the US were well on their way to victory.
Every American putt was followed by roar's and cheers from the home crowd. Westwood yesterday believed the crowd's behavior was unacceptable after apparently being verbally abused throughout the event, however they certainly acted as a 13th man for the home team.
The Ryder brings out this intense rivalry and golfer's who have taken part will tell most that it's unlike any other sporting or golfing event in the world. The passion, drama and excitement are evident from start to finish.
However golfing fans attention will turn back to the British masters which take place this Thursday at the Belfry club. The Belfry was the scene of a famous Ryder Cup win in 2002 and players will be familiar with the course. The British masters always attracts the country's best players and promises to be a action packed event. Here is a look at the favourites to win and market odds:
Westwood: 11/1bet365 Campbell: 18/1 Betdirect McDowell: 19/1 bet 24 Fisher: 18/1 Bet365 Clarke: 28/1 Paddy Power Hanson : 30/1 Blue square
Our Tip: Westwood at 11/1 with Bet365. Westwood won the title last year and will be extremely difficult to beat. However in Golf no player is ever classed as 'clear favourite'. All players have a decent chance.
The competition is very open and the odds are excellent so make sure you place those bets asap! For a full list of odds check out or odds comparison page.
