Bookies make Olly Murs second favourite to leave X-Factor this week

25th November, 2009

Last weekend’s show left the public stunned as the twins were booted off and Olly Murs was singing for survival! Although it was suspected that the twins time on the X-Factor was due to expire, Olly Murs has been leading the competition from the start and fans were left shocked to hear Dermot O’Leary reveal that he would be amongst the bottom two.

Bookies Sky Bet has begun to lose faith in the Essex boy and have lengthened his odds to 7/1 to win X-Factor 2009. He is also 9/4, making him second favourite to be eliminated from the competition this weekend.

Helen Jacob from Sky Bet revealed, “This year’s X Factor, which has produced several shocks in the betting so far, has proved more than any previous series that you are only as good as you are on the night. The X Factor betting is still wide open and it should make for one of the most exciting finals in years, with betting turnover set to break all records.”

Joe McElderry has spent the competition so far in the dark, but in the last few weeks has begun to shine and last week even managed to get a standing ovation from all of the judges with his outstanding performance of ‘Don’t Let The Sun Go Down’, and is now favourite in the X-Factor betting to be the next contestant to be crowned the winner, priced at 5/4.

A spokesman from Sky Bet explained why they think he has been so successful this performance stating, “Joe is in pole position now and his superb vocals, plus the immense popularity of his mentor Cheryl Cole, give him great momentum to power on through to win.”
