Betting odds on Jermaine Beckford this January
8th January, 2010
Jermaine Beckford has received nothing but praise since his last appearance for Leeds against Manchester United on Sunday which saw the Yorkshire team knock Manchester United out of the FA Cup.
Sundays match was the first time since Bournemouth in 1984, that Manchester United has been defeated by a lower-league team. Following the match Sir Alex Ferguson was furious explaining he will not hesitate to drop his underperforming players, he then stated, “I am shocked by the performance because our preparation for the game was very good. The quality of the passing and whole performance was bad.”
After the game that saw Beckford score his 20th goal of the season, it is clear that he is becoming an extremely desirable player and with his contract running out in the summer, everyone seems unclear of his future plans.
Leeds manager Simon Grayson explained, “The worst case scenario is we are offered some money now that is too good to turn down. But we would need replacements lined up if that was to happen.”
Sky Bet have reported that a lot of punters are paying interest in Beckford to join Aston Villa so have been forced to slash their odds from 25/1 to 2/1.
A spokesman from Sky Bet explained, “Everyone knew that Newcastle were interested in signing Beckford but judging by the money it looks as though Villa manager Martin O'Neill is also looking at the Leeds hitman after he scored the winner at Old Trafford at the weekend.”
Other odds on Beckford include 9/4 to stay with the Whites and a price of 5/6 to join Newcastle United. Please visit Sky Bet to see more odds or to place a bet.
