Betting odds on Gianfranco Zola sacked
19th January, 2010
West Ham United manager Gianfranco Zola has managed to dampen rumours on him being sacked after it was revealed today the uncertainty of the clubs future as a whole.
After a suspicious flood of bets on Zola to get sacked, bookies became suspicious that information had leaked about his future so cut the odds with some bookies starting with a price of 16/1 and slashing the price to odds-on.
The club is currently in a very difficult situation, not just with regards to their recent performance but also matters off the pitch including severe financial troubles and it looks as though, the once trusted and respected manager is slowly losing his loyal fans.
Awaiting the statement to confirm the next move, bookies are continuing to offer odds on the market with Ladbrokes pricing Zola to be sacked on the first day of next season at 11/8 and a price of 8/15 that Zola is safe for a little longer.
A spokesman from Ladbrokes explained, “Zola has been given assurances by the new owners but so too was Mark Hughes at Manchester City.” He went on to say, “A poor run of results could lead the new regime to install their own man.”
In the Next Premiership manager to leave betting odds, Avram Grant and Rafa Benitez are priced at 7/2 second favourites, Phil Brown is backed at 4/1 followed by Mick McCarthy at 14/1 and Arsene Wenger at the 66/1 outsider.
