Betting odds on England vs. Croatia on Wednesday 9th September
8th September, 2009
After a successful game against Slovenia last Saturday which saw a 2-1 score, England seems to be well prepared for the game on Wednesday against Croatia.
Spurs player Jermain Defoe did not start against Slovenia but did manage to score the decisive goal meaning that it is about time that Fabio Capello gave him more play time and let him start against Croatia on Wednesday to help partner with Rooney upfront. He has scored an outstanding 7 goals in 6 appearances for his club and country and Sky Bet are offering 5/4 that he will start on Wednesday and 4/7 that he is left on the bench, but he is backed at 11/2 to be bought on and score.
Sky Bet are also supporting the chance that Defoe will score in the 90 miniutes being backed at 11/8 to score and 8/15 not to score. To top of the season Jermain Defoe is backed at 33/1 to steal the title of the World Cup Golden Boot this year.
A spokesperson from Sky Bet showed his excitement for having such a great striker as we approach the World Cup explaining that, “Defoe’s finishing has been brilliant at all levels this season. It is refreshing to see an England striker in such good form and even though Saturday’s strike had a deflection, that’s the luck you get when you’re on top of your game.”
Other bets on offer from Sky Bet is that David Beckham will start at 9/4 and 3/1 that England will be offered and score a penalty similar to that in the Slovenia game.
England are 8/13 to beat Croatia, a draw is backed at 5/2 with Sky Bet offering a Croatia win at 4/1.
