Russell Slade has been sacked after a short lived 18 months with Brighton and Hove Albion and despite helping to keep the Seagulls away from relegation, his recent influence has seen them only win 3 out of their first 15 games this season. It was this that has bought the Albion to make a strategic decision for the benefit of the club and let Slade go.

Bookies are offering odds on who will be next to help Brighton recover from a very unsuccessful start to the season. In the mean time Martin Hinshelwood has been put in charge yet again, making it the third time that he has covered the club until a future manager has been decided.

The Albion chairman highlighted the priority of finding a new manager that will be able to achieve something beyond previous success and take the Seagulls to the next level. He went on to explain, “It’s critical to get this decision right for the football club that it wouldn’t be right to put a time scale on it.”

As bookies have jumped at the chance to offer odds on the manager to be chosen to point the Albion in the right direction, they looked for clues in what the directors had to say but there were no hints with Tony Bloom adding, “I have some candidates in mind, and I’ve been inundated with calls from various people. It is about going through the list, doing our due diligence and speaking to the potential candidates.”

Steve Coppell is favourite to take over the managerial position best priced with VC Bet at 6/4. Steve Cotterill and Dennis Wise are joint second favourite at 6/1, with Gus Poyet next in the line up backed at 8/1.
