Betfair saves £1.6million
19th August, 2009
It has recently been revealed that Betfair has saved around £1.6 million in attrition costs over the last two years.
The bookies employs 1,800 people using recruitment ages, however, having carried out some research, Betfair discovered that employees hired via agencies have a shorter lived career with the company. Whereas, hiring direct seems to seek those people most interested and dedicated to the particular career, therefore resulting in them being more loyal to the company and staying for longer. This finding has resulted in Betfair doing all they can to increase the input they have in recruiting new staff.
The company now acquires 86% of its staff directly, which has increased from a low 40% from two years ago. This dramatic change in recruitment has meant that the bookmaker’s attrition levels have dropped below 20%, a first for the 3 years.
The head of recruitment from Betfair explained, “Betfair needs a recruitment and retention policy that is best in class and we provide this. In addition to recruitment activities we are coaching all line management in the use of assessment tools, interview training and management techniques. We are determined to find, recruit and keep all the best candidates in this market- the figures for the last year show this is working”.
