Belarus vs England Betting Preview

13th October, 2008

Belarus v England

  • Venue: Dinamo Stadium
  • Date: Wednesday, 15 October
  • Kick-off: 1930 BST

After a 5-1 win at Wembley on Saturday afternoon England fans will be looking forward to the next group game against Belarus on Wednesday. The score line on Saturday against Kazakhstan, some may say, didn't reflect the game as England struggled to break down the former Soviet Republic side.

Wembley was packed out as hopeful fans watched a side who had convincingly beat one of the worlds best sides, Croatia, 4-1 last month.

However Wembley has become an intimidating atmosphere for some of the players. Fans had to wait until the second half for the action to begin. First England went ahead with Rio Ferdinand heading in from a corner.

Then an own goal from a Kazakhstan doubled England's lead. The next goal however was a surprise to everyone as Ashley Cole's lazy back pass lead to Kazakhstan bringing it back to 2-1. Cole was then subject to a minority of the fans booing which would later be criticized by Capello, the Press, FA and fellow England fans.

England recovered from this embarrassing moment to put another three goals past their opponents keeper, with Rooney grabbing two and Defoe scoring the last.

The players may well be pleased to be travelling away from Wembley as the pressure will be off their shoulders. Betting punters will again be looking and first scorer and correct score markets to hopefully make some money. Here's a quick look at the betting odds for this game:
