Beckham Will Miss Qualifiers
31st August, 2007
David Beckham is expected to be out of action for six weeks due to a knee ligament injury. This means he will not return until mid october, missing both of England's qualifiers against Israel and Russia at Wembley.
Beckham injured his knee after going in for a tackle in the Superliga final against Pachuca. LA Galaxy lost on penalties 4-3 against Pachuca.
A scan on Thursday confirmed that Beckham had sprained his medial collateral ligament in his right knee.
LA Galaxy wrote on their website:
"Beckhamwas diagnosed with a sprained right knee and is scheduled to undergo further tests to determine the extent of the injury today but said after the match that he felt discomfort."
"He now might miss some significant time for the Galaxy and England."
Beckham now joins Manchester United's Wayne Rooney on the bench while there is still doubt over whether Steven Gerrard will be fit to play.
