Barcelona v Manchester United Preview, Betting and Odds

23rd April, 2008

Two European giants meet this evening in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final. Under-pressure Barcelona welcome Premier League champions and leaders Manchester United to Camp Nou.

The last time the Red Devils played at the stadium they lifted the Champions League trophy, after the 1999 final against Bayern Munich. Many expect United to go on and win it this year, and recent form suggests they should edge out Barca over two legs. Nine game unbeaten in all competitions including sevens wins bodes well for the English side, whereas problems at the top combined with injuries makes Barcelona third favourites at 3/1 with Bet 365 to win the competition, unthinkable two or three seasons ago.

Going into the match this evening, Barcelona are favourites to go to Old Trafford with an advantage at best odds of 13/8 with Ladbrokes, whilst United are generally 2/1 to win the game and surely cement their place in the final. VC Bet offer the best odds on a draw at 43/20, which may well be taken up by some.
