Australia Dominate But England Progress

14th September, 2007

England have qualified for the Super Eights of the Twenty20 World Championships despite being on the receiving end of an eight-wicket thrashing from Australia. Before the match, the Aussies were in danger of being eliminated after their defeat to Zimbabwe earlier in the week.

Adam Gilchrist (45) and Mathew Hayden (67no) showed class as Australia cruised to victory with more than 5 overs remaining. Flintoff top-scored for England with just 31 runs. England will need to improve somewhat to have a chance to challenging for the title, now available at 7/1 to win the championships at Betfred.
