Aston Villa vs. Manchester City Preview

5th October, 2009

Aston Villa will host Manchester City at Villa Park this evening and both teams will be searching for three points in order to stay in touch of the chasing pack at the top of the Premier League.

At the end of the season both teams will be aiming to capture Champions League football and the head to head clashes will be of paramount importance.

If Villa defeats City tonight they will be on the same amount of points and if City wins it will be their best start to a Premier League campaign.

Villa midfielder Steve Sidwell is expected to start after missing the last league match due to a hamstring strain. Luke Young’s return is anticipated to be after the international break as he is not match fit at the moment. Stuart Downing will miss the match due to an injured foot and Curtis Davies shall miss the clash due to a damaged shoulder.

Manchester City will have the services of Emmanuel Adebayor again after he has completed his three match ban for stamping on Arsenal’s Robin Van Persie. The strikers return will be a massive boost for City as he has scored in every league game he has played this season. Roque Santa Cruz is likely to be on the substitutes, bench after returning from injury.

The match is likely to be an intriguing one as Manchester City has won five of their six league games, whilst Aston Villa has the best defensive record in the Premier League.

Aston Villa is 15/8 to win with bet 24 and Manchester City is 13/8 with bet 365. The draw is 12/5 with Ladbrokes.
