Arsenal vs. Celtic Second Leg Online Betting Odds

19th August, 2009

Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has urged his troops not to be complacent after their 2-0 Champions League qualifier first leg victory over Glasgow Celtic at Parkhead.

A William Gallas goal just before half time and a Gary Caldwell own goal after 71 minutes, gave the Gunners a hard fought victory on the night. The victory has put Arsenal within touching distance of a Champions League group stage place.

Immediately after the match, Arsene Wenger commented on how he was impressed with Celtic’s battling performance and how they cannot be underestimated before the second leg at the Emirates.

The Frenchman told BBC Sport "We have a good advantage but it is 180 minutes and we are in front after 90. You want to play well for 180 and that is our purpose. We have to make sure we win the game at home, we have to take it seriously and it is a massive game." Celtic’s physical approach and aggressive tackling did not please Wenger initially, but he paid tribute to how his side handled the situation and maintained their undefeated start to the season.

Wenger added, "We dominated the game but Celtic were always fighting and counter-attacking and in the end, despite being in control, we scored two lucky goals. But yes, of course, we merited the good fortune.

"There were some bad fouls, the referee took some time to intervene and we had some harsh treatment. But I am very happy with the commitment of my team, despite the physical approach of some Celtic players.”
