30th October, 2009
Arsenal gets ready to entertain their bitter North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
Both teams who are level on points in third and fourth position respectively will be looking to close the gap on league leaders Chelsea. The clubs both suffered disappointing results last weekend as Arsenal drew 2-2 at West Ham after being 2-0 up and Spurs lost at home to Stoke 1-0.
If anything like the same fixture last year the match will be highly entertaining with lots of twists. Spurs scored in injury time to equalise as the two teams battled out a 4-4 draw in Harry Redknapp’s first game in charge. Tottenham have not beaten the Gunners in the League since 1999 and not won at Arsenal since 1993.
Harry Redknapp who is undefeated against the reds since taking charge one year ago is desperate to change his sides, fortunes and finally win.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is expected to recall Cesc Fabregas, Andrey Arshavin and Robin van Persie after being rested for the Carling Cup game against Liverpool in midweek.
Eduardo, Samir Nasri and Nicklas Bendtner all returned from injuries against Liverpool and will compete for places in the starting line-up. Theo Walcott and Tomas Rosicky both have knee injuries.
For Tottenham, England international Peter Crouch is set lead the attack with Robbie Keane as Jermain Defoe is suspended. Russian international striker Roman Pavlyuchenko is likely to be on the bench.
Central Defender Jonathan Woodgate who suffered a head injury last week is struggling to be fit. Midfielders Luka Modric and Aaron Lennon will both miss the clash as Modric has a fractured leg and Lennon has an ankle injury.
Arsenal is 8/13 with Stan James while Tottenham is 5/1 with expect. The draw is 10/3 with canbet.
