Arsenal vs. Liverpool Online Betting Odds

28th October, 2009

Arsenal gets ready to tackle Liverpool tonight in the fourth round of the Carling Cup at the Emirates Stadium. The tie of the round will be the first time these two members of the big four have clashed this season.

Arsenal boss, Arsene Wenger, has traditionally used the Carling Cup as a way of giving his young and reserve players a chance to showcase their talents within the first team. Wenger is expected to stand by this philosophy and name a team which has a blend of experience and youth; especially after his young guns impressive 2-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion in the previous round.

French international, Samir Nasri, could feature as he looks to come back into the first team after breaking his leg during pre-season. The midfielder played for the Arsenal reserves last week and was an unused substitute in the Gunners 2-2 draw against West Ham in the Premiership at the weekend.

Liverpool are looking to build upon their impressive 2-0 league victory over arch rivals Manchester United on Sunday and wish to lift the Carling Cup for a record eighth time this season.

Liverpool’s Spanish boss, Rafael Benitez, is also likely to leave his star players on the sidelines as both Fernando Torres and club captain Steven Gerrard are expected to miss out. Former Roma midfielder, Alberto Aquilani, could make his debut tonight after being out injured since he joined the reds in the summer.

Benitez told BBC Sport "He will be with us. He is improving his fitness, so he's in the squad. He cannot start at this moment but he will be there and maybe we can give him some minutes. If it's possible, we will try to use him."

Arsenal is backed at 11/10 by bet365 to win whilst rivals Liverpool are backed at 12/5. A draw is priced at 12/5.
