Arizona are going to Super Bowl 43
19th January, 2009
Cardinals were and still are ecstatic as they bear witness to their teams first trip to the Super Bowl.
Defying all odds the Arizona Cardinals have managed to book their place in the 43rd annual event. They have continually been the underdogs in their post-season games and have toppled each opponent, with the latest being Philadelphia Eagles.
Bookies had the eagles as favorites to win the tie, but the likes of Kurt Warner and Larry Fitzgerald, Arizona’s QB and WR respectively, had other ideas with Fitzgerald running in 3 TD paces.
“After winning i didn’t know what to do!” said Cardinals Pro Bowl Safety Adrian Wilson, who has never experience anything close to this in his eight seasons at the club.
However even with impressive performances the Cardinals are still underdogs going into the Super bowl in 2 weeks time, when they come up against the Pittsburgh Stealers at Tampa.
When asked one Vegas sports-books firms representatives said that the reason for the Underdog status given to Arizona was ‘Defence’. With most bookmakers believing the Cardinals Offence will be unable to penetrate the Steelers’ defence.
William Hill, Totesport, Coral and Victor Chandler along with others have put the Steelers as 4/11 favorites.
However it has to be said on Fitzgerald’s current form the Cardinals are in with more than an outside chance, as the Steelers offense have relied on it’s defence to keep opponents out. With it exposed they will find it tough to keep up with Arizona’s.
