Amir Khan set to fight in America next year
10th December, 2009
Bookies are beginning to price who will take on Amir Khan after he successfully kept his WBA world light-welterweight title. Online bookies Sky Bet have proposed who they think will be next in line to take on the champion in 2010.
The Bolton fighter has admitted that he has always dreamt of fighting in the United States and he hopes that in 2010 he will be able to fulfil this dream. It has not yet be confirmed who will be in the line up for him next year but Sky Bet have been pricing potential opponents ahead of his discussion with his manager in the New Year.
A spokesman from Sky Bet explained, “After the total humiliation Khan dished out to Salita, the boxing world is now sitting up and taking notice of the impressive young Brit. Khan’s camp will have their pick of fights now but I suspect they will go for someone well known in America but without much of a punch. I think Pauli Malignaggi fits that bill perfectly but the ageing Juan Manuel Marquez would also be tempting.”
Sky Bet are pricing Khan at 4/6 to win a fight with Marquez, if it is arranged in the New Year. In addition, a fight with Ricky Hatton has also been priced making Khan 4/7 favourite if they meet next year.
