Airlines set to go bust in 2010

22nd December, 2009

Punters can always rely on Paddy Power to provide them with the most entertaining and bizarre betting odds and following on from last year’s high interest, mixed with all the dramas that this Christmas has bought, the Irish bookies decided to offer odds on which airline they think will go bust first in 2010 for a second year running.

Paddy Power have released the odds to help punters decide who is best to book your holidays with next year to avoid disappointment.

In particular, British Airways have drawn attention to themselves yet again with staff going on strike and Paddy Power has priced them at worryingly short odds of 10/1 to be the next airline to go bust.

In addition, Paddy Power realised odds of 8/11 that the planned strike that was meant to begin on 22nd December 2009 for 12 days would not go ahead and they were correct, so it might be worth a wager on their 10/1 of BA going bust first in 2010.

Paddy Power have priced Wizz Air at 4/1 favourite to be the next airline to stop flights and shut down in 2010, followed by second favourite Finnair backed at 9/2. BA’s worryingly short odds are the same as those given for Jet2 and Spainair. Thomson Airways is closely behind at 12/1 and Quantas is at 20/1.

The trusted budget airlines seem to be the safest next year with Monarch priced at 50/1, Easy Jet at 80/1, and Ryanair backed at 80/1.

It would be wise to get your bets in quickly as last year Paddy Power were forced to shut the betting market on airlines! For more odds or other novelty bet markets please visit Paddy Power and get your hands on a FREE £25 bet.
