Beckham Scores for Galaxy!

17th Aug 2007

David Beckham scored his first goal for LA Galaxy last night, silencing those supports that had begun to doubt him and helped LA Galaxy beat DC United in Wednesday's SuperLiga semi-final.

The usual David Beckham free kick in the 28th minute showed the crowd that he was still commited, but the midfielder knows he has a long way to go to truely win over hearts following his high profile move.

Beckham's move has not gone smoothly so far due to a persistent ankle injury that has limited his involvment with the side this season. This lack of play has caused some fans to become disgruntled.

One fan held up a placard that read:

"David, welcome to America. Where people like you get paid to do nothing."

David Beckham however is doing something, and that is generating huge revenue and pulicity for both the league and his club. The fans want to see him on the pitch though, and not on the bench.

Beckham took time out before the game to say:

"I can only let nature take its course and hopefully get as fit as I can as quick as possible."

"Keep supporting us, keep supporting me and the players, and keep on coming to see the games because at some point I will be playing every game."
